Christmas Knitting

I’ve been doing lots of Christmas knitting the past few months, so haven’t posted pictures here – or anywhere else. I want gift recipients to be surprised 🙂

After Christmas I’ll be sharing lots of pictures and links to patterns!

Happy Holidays and Happy Knitting!

Youtube Taught me How to Knit

A few people have tried to teach me how to knit, but it was Youtube that made it all click. Being able to watch videos of people showing how to knit has been an incredible resource, where I can pause, and rewind, as many times as I need in order to learn something new. I would like to share some of my favourite knitting Youtube Channels that I’ve found helpful.

My absolutely #1 favourite Youtube Channel is VeryPink Knits. This channel features the fantastic Staci Perry. She is a Level 1 certified master knitter, with over 35 years knitting experience. She’s also a knit wear designer, and knitting teacher.

I also enjoy Vickie Howell’s Youtube Channel. She teachers knitting and crochet.

The Skeino Yarn Youtube channel is also extremely helpful.

Browns and Blues Hat

I’m sorry I don’t have a pattern…I knit a swatch, measured head, figured out stitches/inch, then cast on. For decreases I just take the number of stitches, let’s say 100 sts…and I find a number that can be divided equally…So 10 goes into 100 evenly.

10-2 = 8

So I did K8, K2tog all the way around.  knit 1 row.

K7, K2TOG all the way around, then knit 1 row.

This is chemo hat made for a friend.

Log Cabin inspired Memory Poncho

After Watching Very Pink Knit’s video, “Learn to Knit a Log Cabin Blanket“, I was inspired to use up my scrap yarn which had accumulated the past four years. I started a “Memory Poncho”, using yarn from hand-knit projects I had made. As I knit each rows with the different colours, I remember each project made with the yarn, and each person it was made for.
